I tried Koto for the first time today (take out) and it was really good! I got the Hibachi Chicken Dinner and was pleasantly surprised at how much food you get. The best thing: not too salty. Everything tasted fresh and seasoned nicely. I’ll definitely be going back. I recommend this restaurant.

Love the hibachi (they have rice and lo mein and no sprouts - which usually goes uneaten on my plate at other Japanese stakehouses). The dinner bento box is the best. My kids enjoyed the show, so they weren't bored while waiting for their food.

After watching The Mario Bro Movie our son wanted the hibachi experience, so we found one near our home and made a reservation using Google's automated assistant thing and it worked perfectly. We arrived 30 minutes early and they sat us immediately, offered us drinks & gave us the usual apps as we awaited the chef. We told them that it was our son's 9th birthday and they showed him a little extra attention during his performance. The food was good & plentiful. We left very pleased.

Fast seating, professional and entertaining chefs and the wait staff are polite, timely and attentive. The restaurant has a bar and booth for more private and quiet seating. They also have a beautiful water fountain as you walk in. Very cool.

Having the food cooked in front of us was entertaining, exciting, and also weirdly comforting (as this was before the COVID-19 virus hit America, but we had been hearing rumors of it overseas). Id rank the staff well above average for being polite and helpful. All in all, this will be a top choice for our next special occasion dinner! (Im not going to add my photos because there are already some really good ones on here.)

Wonderful hibachi grill experience.

Tucked away in Columbia/Clarksville, Koto Sake has some great food choices at a reasonable price. We had the Rock Chicken, the Spicy Sandwich sushi roll, and the Seafood Yaki Udon. All three were delicious, and the service was very quick and friendly. Decoration in the restaurant was nice too, and it was very clean. Would recommend!

BEST SUSHI IN COLUMBIA, HANDS DOWN!! Melts in your mouth! I've been to them all, Sushi Sono, Sushi King, etc., and this one is the best around hands down. Sushi Q is great too, but the nearest location is in Elkridge. If you're looking for the best sushi in Columbia, look no further than Koto Saki.

I recommend the salmon avocado roll, spicy tuna roll, and Green Caterpillar.

I've had a giftcard lying around for years, and have passed this place on every grocery trip. I decided to finally go, and discovered we have been missing out.

The sushi has unique combinations of fillings, making it hard to decide (plus such reasonable prices!). I decided on the Spider Man roll and my hubby the Black Samurai.

We also ordered a side of the Combo (squid and scallop) Teriyaki.

The sushi was super fresh fish, with bold flavor profiles. They provide a perfect side pairing sauce. The pieces of sushi were large, laid out on a beautifully designed plate.

The teriyaki plate was amazing. Skillfully grilled squid-offering a variety of rings, tentacles, and skin each charred well. The rice was moist with the right amount of sauce. The fresh veggie combination included cucumber, celery, and green peppers. I loved the grilled pop it added. The scallops melted in my mouth.

I can't wait to go again!

Just ate here, been wanting to try it out for a while and definitely paid off to finally go see how it is. Sushi tasted very fresh and the sushi sashimi dish is more than enough sushi to fill anyone up. The waitress who tended the area I sat in was very polite and tentative to my table and my care. Highly recommend trying if you are in the area and have a hankering for sushi.

I worked a festival in the area, and the group decided to try here for dinner. We came Saturday and Sunday. Saturday they were unprepared for the group, they got a few of our orders mixed up, but had no problem fixing the orders and letting us keep the incorrect orders at no charge, I think it could have been a new waiter. Sunday when we came back with an even larger group everything was perfect, and delicious! Even though we ran into slight issues one day, the food was amazing, hibachi, and sushi. Wonderful service.

Okay so I’m the pickiest eater in the world and I got basic chicken fried rice (lunch special) and my friend got steak hibachi with fried rice and we are SO pleased! Not greasy, tastes great, very decent prices...hidden gem for sure. Quality meat and large portions. The staff is also very kind and fast.

Purchased a Groupon and came here. The hibachi is amazing -- superb taste! The sushi is good as well...Fresh. Hibachi Chef was great, and the waitress was very nice, attentive -- Really good customer service. Great bar if you want to sit and enjoy, as well. My only complaint is the host/owner sneezed BIG, into his hands, and clearly wasn't going to wash his hands, until we looked at him in disbelief. He then went around the corner and came back in less than 15 seconds -- Too short of time to have made it to the bathroom to wash his hands. Unacceptable, no matter what your role, when in food service.

First time I've ever been there. Very popular and busy place I recommend calling for a reservation. Great food and entertaining cooking show at the hibachi table, best done with family or a group of friends. Very reasonably priced for the amount of food received. The beef I had was cooked to perfection. Next week I'm going to check out the sushi bar which appeared to be very popular, one couple asked if their usual table was available.

Went to the hibachi grill at this place and it was quite the experience. The chef was a thrill to watch and he really enjoyed what he was doing. The food that was prepared was also delicious. Would go again, but it is rather pricey.

Every now and then we stop in for lunch and have sushi. Every single time the sushi is fabulous! The service is quick and efficient and we will return again and again, for lunch, as we are able.

I'm obsessed with Crab Rangoon and anytime I see it on the menu it's no surprise that I order it...and order the Crab Rangoon from here I did, and it was delicious. I also a taste of the Orange Shrimp and the Chicken Teriyaki, and I would definitely order the Teriyaki again. There was an additional mystery sauce that came with the order, but I think it was the spicy mayo but I'm not to sure, but whatever it was it was delicious.

The food at Koto Sake is pretty good and the prices are reasonable. We've enjoyed dinner once and also tried the lunch specials another day (only ordering plated meals, not hibachi). We had the same server both times and he was very friendly. Koto Sake is a nice place to go every once in a while.

The groupon for Koto is great when you have a hankering for hibachi - they offer both a Mom-Thurs and an "any day" option, be sure to buy the right one for your needs. I have been twice now, both for their chicken hibachi options - a Thursday and Saturday, both for dinner. Thursday was a great hibachi show - quickly seated for the dinner to start. Saturday evening they seemed a bit overwhelmed - took awhile to get seated, the wrong chef came to our station, the group next to us didn't get their sushi, and getting water refilled was a chore. The station next to us started halfway through our dinner and was finished before us (their chef rushed).

Both times the food was deliciously cooked.

Parking is a breeze with a very large lot.

Despite the slow service I would visit again. We were there to celebrate my daughter's bday and they sang happy birthday to her and gave her ice cream.

However, with the exception of the rice and noodles, the portions were small compared to other Hibachi meals I had. Even the vegetables was skimpy. That was disappointing. There is a large drink list but no sparkling wine. The dining room could use a upgrade but the lobby is colorful.

Hey I enjoyed my time here it was a great experience. The only thing I don't like is the customer service at the front desk when you come in. The Lady that is up front acts like She has a attitude. We told her we had another person coming, and instead of us being able to go sit down and wait, we had to sit out front until he came. We enjoyed the show, that the guy did with the food. The only thing is before he was finished, they had forgot some one's order and had to go get more food. Other than the multiple shots of Saki, it was great.

We came here for the first time on Mother's Day after our outdoor plans were ruined by terrible weather. I was worried that it was going to be a bad experience because we were able to get a reservation on only a few hours' notice. What decent place would not have been booked weeks ago??

But, this place was really great and I would go back in a heartbeat. The service, staff and chef were outstanding and attentive. Even though the restaurant was only half-full, they had decorated for Mother's Day and were putting in a serious effort to please (flowers for moms, coupon for next visit, etc).

Delivery was fast, hibachi tasted like every other hibachi, which isn't a bad thing. My complaint, is that the miso soup they gave me was pretty much a container of water with absolutely no flavor, and mo substance. It was just very, very watery.

This was my first time here. I liked the miso soup (my girlfriend didn't care for it; she said it was just mushroom soup, not miso soup). The salad was good, not as good as the salad with the ginger sesame salad dressing at Benihana, but good. We ordered a rainbow roll (very good), the fried rice & egg was good (I didn't think to ask if there was an option to get chicken with it like at Benihana), I ordered the hibachi filet mignon with shrimp and the hibachi filet mignon with lobster for my girlfriend because "she got it like that." Our meals were very good, big shrimp, the lobster was fine, but not particularly flavorful. The meals also came with a huge mountain of vegetables, much more than Benihana (notice a pattern?) - zucchini, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms and onions. I'm not a huge vegetable person, so dipping them in the sauces (intended for the meat) helped.

And the food (and the check) arrived much faster than at Benihana. The wait staff was friendly and very attentive, and the prices are a few dollars less than Benihana.

Bottom line: I was pleased with our meal and would have no hesitation about going again. Not as good overall as Benihana, but a very worthy substitute and a heck of a lot closer.

Never dined in at this establishment but I've ordered delivery many times. They're really quick and they're good is delicious! It arrives fresh and hot, as if you were there. While the fried rice that comes with the entrees is a little bland, that's nothing that some of the sauces can't fix! Their sushi is wonderful and customer service is great! Really enjoy this place

This is an excellent restaurant for individuals, families, or groups. Our group had a luncheon there today and it was fabulous. The portions are very generous. The food was delicious. It was fun to watch as the chefs cook right at the table. The management is extremely pleasant. They are right on the ball checking that everyone is happy with their food. The waitress was delightful. She kept refilling tea and water for anyone who needed it. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food served. They have a private room for larger groups and regular rooms for diners to come in to the restaurant. This is a real plus for the Hickory Ridge area.

But lets start at the beginning. This venue is big. There is a regular sit down area, with a bar. There is a hibachi area and you can rent a private room for your party.

Lots of parking in the lot right across the street.

So now, lets get to the good stuff. Super friendly staff. Always smiling and very polite. They are also very attentive and my water glass is always full.

I'm big on sushi rolls and I like the large selection this place offers. I also appreciate that this restaurant has NOT followed the current trend of putting cream cheese in all their sushi rolls. Thank you Koto, and please do not ever ruin your rolls by putting cream cheese in them!

I have ordered in from this restaurant plenty of times but tonight was the first time I had been in the restaurant to dine in. I had the shrimp and scallops hibachi and was very pleased! Seafood was fresh! Chef was great and kept us all very entertained. 16 of us came and we had a great time: highly recommend!!

Came here after purchasing a groupon. Pretty good Groupon too except it was for a Monday or Tuesday night only. Totally worked though because it wasn't crowded the restaurant or hibachi. We did the hibachi table and saw that the hibachi comes with a shrimp appetizer ( although we didn't receive it, no one did so I wonder if they just need to remove it) but decided to try the sushi. The fantastic roll is fantastic! Great price for ten tools. The picture I took is after it was half eaten and then I thought I just review this. It was so good though. The hibachi was ok. The filet was amazing! The scallops were ok- do not think I will get again. Shrimp and chicken were good though. Hibachi comes with noodles, rice and veggies. Complimentary soup and salad before as well. Server was very friendly and helpful. Will return because I definelty want to try more sushi.

Where do I even begin?!? Our Chef Joe was AMAZING!!! He kept us entertained the entire time he was cooking with so many tricks and jokes! I was literally treated like a Birthday Queen! I have never had that much fun at a Birthday dinner before! I definitely would go back again and request Joe! Our Waitress Angela was also really great! Brought out a special birthday ice cream, sang happy birthday, and played the drum and offered me a chance to get up and dance! I picked the perfect place to host my 28th Birthday Dinner, it was nothing short of AMAZING!!!

This may have been a first. We had the whole hibachi room to ourselves. It was on a Wednesday evening before 6, consequently, we got special attention. Our waiter was awesome! He would clear our area and come back frequently to check on us. He was also very polite! More so than what you would see if you were being served at a Chinese restaurant (speaking from personal experience).

My husband and I come here every few months when we use the Groupon offer. Note, this last purchase I read the fine print and apparently you have to make reservations now.

I ordered the hibachi dinner (fillet mignon and scallops). They start you off with a bowl of miso soup and a side salad. The hibachi dinner came with noodles, fried rice, fried veggies (onions, broccoli, carrot, and zucchini), and two appetizer shrimps. The noodle, rice, and fillet were cooked to perfection. The fillet was soft and tender. The rice was seasoned just perfectly with the sauces and salt/pepper. The only two minor critiques was the scallop was slightly salty for my taste and the broccoli and zucchini was slightly overcooked. Maybe that should have been thrown in a bit later after the other items got a head start.

Their portion size are very generous. I only ate half and had to bring a doggy bag home. I can't complain when I can make two meals out of it.

We had my daughters 13th birthday party here. The portions were huge and the girls really enjoyed themselves! I? will be back again. I? enjoyed the Sake Squirt and they did a great job accommodating the children’s food allergies .

Seriously the food here is SO GOOD! Hibachi grills are a dime a dozen in this area, but Koto is by far the greatest! The food has flavor, it's not greasy, staff is friendly, and (in restaurant) service is good. I had the fillet mignonette and shrimp and gravy he meat was so tender and juicy. Don't let the surroundings turn you away. It's next to a Giant and in a strip mall but that doesn't matter. I also appreciated the drinks we got - not watered down at all and very good! I have never had their sushi, but willing to try some day. But the Hibachi by far is the best in Columbia.

This is a consistently good hibachi and sushi restaurant. Staff are always friendly and since we frequent often, we are always greeted with welcome smiles. Portions are very generous for the hibachi dinners, and everything is very delicious and well seasoned. I personally enjoy the hibachi scallops dinner. Waitresses are very attentive, refilling drinks often, and checking if you need anything. Lately they have had groupon deals, which helps offset the higher prices for hibachi meals and sushi. Also, for your birthday, they sing for you and bring out a drum/gong and ice cream for the birthday person which is always fun.

I ordered beef teriyaki box online, it came with soup, salad, fried rice and a lot more in a box. The food was more than enough for 2 people.

We ate there last night with 11 people. We were immediately seated which was nice with young kids. First, and most importantly, the food was very good and the portions are very generous. The atmosphere is so-so. I will say that the filet is better to order than the normal steak. It is worth eating here if you are in this area. Thanks!!

This place was better than expected. The sushi rolls we really good and their steak dinner was not overcooked. Also add a good thing in my book, their choice of wasabi sauce is good. Sometimes you go to places and you can just eat the wasabi. This was not the case. It gave that awesome wasabi burn and tingle. Good stuff

Just had my birthday dinner at The Hibachi Grill. It was wonderful. Our chef gave a great show. The food was good and the kids had fun. My steak, shrimp and chicken dinner was excellent. They gave me free ice cream, sang Happy Birthday and let me wear the Japanese Birthday Hat. The decor is a little outdated and the furniture is a little old but I came for the food and I honestly don't have anymore to say. That's a first for me.

I order sushi from Koto Sake for lunch for the past 6 months..... Checking my eat24.com account, I have ordered sushi 32 times from Koto Sake. Wow! Must say something about this place huh???!??! All I can say is that the quality is excellent, very fresh, and I have enjoyed it each and every time. Amazingly consistent if you ask me! Delivery from eat24.com was on point! I cant say enough..... Went for lunchtime hibachi using a Groupon deal. I loved getting our own table. Typical hibachi prices so it is pretty pricey. Only negative thing I have to say compared to other hibachi places the rice and noodle portions are small. Most hibachi places I've been to would give me lots of rice and noodles enough for me to take home to eat the next day. This was the first hibachi I actually finished all my food which means the portion was small compared to others. Other then that food was good!

Came here for my daughter's 7th born day party. Hibachi chef Tony was polite, fun and made my daughter smile. We had a wonderful time. The food was exceptional.

The Sake Was Endless...This was my first time at a Japanese Hibachi. I was waiting outside for friends to come when the host invited me inside,the temperature was at the freezing point, and gave me tea and a complimentary appetizer while I waited, which was very tasty. The food was delicious, I never had such excellent fried rice...lots of garlic! I had the chicken and steak combination which was excellent and well prepared. The yumyum sauce was awesome. The meal comes with a lot of food and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Ping, our Hibachi master was very talented with the utensils and was very funny and entertaining. The atmosphere was also very classy and not over done. Definitely a must try in Columbia!

Just got back from eating at KOTO Katana. The food was great and we had a great time. Our party included 3 adults and 4 kids between 2 and 10 years old. Most of the adults got the filet mignon and lobster hibachi meal. My husband and I like our meat rare (not raw and not med rare) and they cooked it perfectly. The kids got chicken or steak hibachi, which was also good. The fried rice and accompanying sauces were the best part. The chef that prepared the meal gave us a good show that was very entertaining and funny for the kids (though my 2 yr old daughter was a bit freaked out with the fire). We also tried the chicken on a stick and fried shrimp shumai appetizers, which were also great. The waitstaff were very attentive (although we went on a Sunday night just after Thanksgiving, so it was quiet). The sign on the restaurant indicated that it had only opened recently, but I would definitely recommend giving this one a shot. Good stuff for Columbia!

Decided to give this place a try, with the coupon that we received through mail. I've never been a fan of hibachi, but I must admit, the chef who entertained our kids (ages 2-7) was fantastic. HIs name is Donnie. I ordered sushi platter and noticed that it came with Uni (which is usually charged extra at most sushi restaurants). The staff and the manager stopped by and asked for feedback after the meal. Overall, it was a great experience for the family. Will try again, and request that same chef.

Very good Japanese themed environment. Food was extremely well prepared. We had table service for lunch, will go back to try the hibachi style dining. Not too bad at all.

My wife and I moved around the corner from Koto a few months ago, and we've been regulars at this place ever since. We usually stop in for sushi, and we'll often sit at the sushi bar. The chefs are wonderful, always quick to recommend the best fish of the day, and happy to make something special to our tastes.

We stopped in for dinner on New Year's Eve, and had a great time. The service has always been excellent; the waitstaff friendly and attentive.

We've done Hibachi and Kitchen carry out a couple times, and haven't been disappointed by any stretch. The food has been excellent. Really a great place.

Best customer service of any restaurant I've been to in Howard County. From the time we walked in the door, waited at the bar for our party to arrive, got seated, through our dinner, every person who served us greeted us warmly and showed genuine interested in us. Tony, the manager visited our table at the end of the meal. The food was great as well, but the service pushed them to the top in my book! We'll be back!

Very good hibachi. Food was cooked just right. Have never gotten noodles and rice at hibachi before. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very attentive. The soup was very good, salad just ok. Interestingly, the bathroom floors are a gorgeous black mirror-like marble, but makes for a complete lack of privacy! The owner even came over to ask if everything was satisfactory.

The best customer service ever! Everyone greated (by bowing their heads) our party. The sushi was amazing and the hibachi grill was delicious. The hostess made sure that any mistakes were corrected. I always check out the bathrooms in any restaurant that I go to. The bathroom was super duper clean! For dinner service we were served pretty fast. I was surprised more people were not at this restaurant. Our chef wasn't as outgoing and playful as the chef next to us..but I still had a great time. The prices were reasonable. I will definitely recommend this place over the places like Sakura.

We just stopped at Koto Katana today for lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday. We'd been there once under the previous owners/management, and we didn't go back because we were so disappointed. THIS TIME, however, everything was absolutely spot on! The server was attentive (Fiona did a great job), and she timed her visits to our table perfectly. The food was terrific - hubby had the three sushi roll lunch, I had chicken tempura lunch box, and my son had the hibachi steak lunch. Since we mentioned his birthday as we entered, after clearing away our plates, we heard a far off banging drum, and just knew they were heading for us! They have an adorable hat to put on the celebrants head and sang to him! AND provided free fried ice cream (which was delicious in its own right)!! We'll be going back to Koto for sure!!! You should try it, too!

I went here 4 times already. There is so much food to chose from. The manager is super friendly and brought balloon animals for the children. It didn't take long for the chef to come out and the waitresses didn't just stand there and talk. They were very quiet and when we needed something they got it quickly. I don't eat a lot of sushi but my husband got some and I tried it. I can't seem to get enough. And later on the mochi ice cream is to die for:)

My husband and I went there for the first time tonight. We both had hibachi and the food was phenomenal! Despite the fact that I worked at multiple Japanese steakhouse in the past, koto has the best Hibachi I have ever had. Our server was had great customer service as well. We will definitely be back for sure, perhaps try their sushi next time.

When you first walk in, you'll notice the eye catching decor. The please is nice a quiet and clean. And as with any habachi restaurant, you get the attractive show. Our waitress was polite and well-mannered.

Each time I have been here I came for hibachi and have been very very happy. The food is great and the chefs are the best around. You won't be disappointed.

The restaurant is spacious and you don't feel overly crowded while you eat. I ordered the Deluxe Nigiri Sushi Dinner and it was just amazing! The fish was fresh and the rice was perfectly cooked. The miso soup was a little fishy. This may not be for everyone's taste, but I really like it. Also, the service was great and the staff was very friendly. The best sushi I've had in Maryland so far and comparable to the best sushi places found in Japan.

We came here because got a groupon a while ago and finally decided to give it a try. Between my husband and I we got two special rolls (volcano and green dragon) and three regular sushi rolls. We REALLY liked the special rolls but both thought the regular rolls were a little salty. I also felt that the rolls that had the crispy flakes in them, the flakes were all clumped in one corner of the roll instead of dispersed with the fish, so that was kind of an odd sensation when you ate it.

Service wise, we had a great waitress who was very attentive to us and our young son. He got a cup of milk right away and a bowl of rice before our sushi came out. It was a very enjoyable dinner, overall!

honestly im really not a hibachi fan. someone else picked the place for dinner so i went along. normally i just order sushi but since i went with my sister we decided to share the sushi and one filet and lobster hibachi meal.

sushi came out quick. they bring each special roll out on its own plate so it kinda made it croweded. however, we ordered the fantastic roll and the angel kiss. both were REALLY yummy. i really really liked the angel kiss. they put jalapenos so its got a bit of a kick.

but the hibachi is what really surprised me. the fried rice was really really tasty. you also get noodles, also tasty. the filet was so tender, and OMG the lobster was amazing. each person also got 2 shrimps. and veggies. lots of food, and all good for hibachi, and not too oily - which is what i normally dont like about it. this place is definitely tasty. but the chefs arent as much as about putting on a show as much as other places. but the food is better, which in my book is way more important!!

I tried their cooked sushi and it was very delicious. The hot roasted brown rice green tea was a blast! The only thing which was missed in this place was the sushi music.

This place was awesome... I went there with my boyfriend on a Tuesday night it was around 8:45, due to his work we could not go any earlier. The place was empty, which is understandable. The staff were welcoming and didn't make one fuss about us being there. I had made reservations because this was a special night for us and i wanted to make sure there would be room... lol. we had the place to ourselves. The waitress Vivi (i think) was so nice and accommodating. our hibachi chef rivaled those in Hawaii at some of their best Japanese steakhouses. and the food was AMAZIBALLS! so tasty and fun. the chef was engaging and funny. i can't say how great this experience was. AND the FOOD!!! i can't say enough how wonderful and tasty the food was. What could have been a horrible time what with us being the only people in there late at night on a Tuesday was possibly one of the best experiences I've had in the area eating out. We are definitely going to plan on having a large party here! it's awesome... absolutely one of the best restaurants in the area.

People try this place! I have been 5 times and the price is unbeatable for Hibachi. They have constant special pricing (check their website). The food just keeps coming and is always delicious! The service is great. You just can't beat this place for a hibachi style dinner! Beats Sakura hands down!

I will definitely be back to this restaurant. My first experience here was a lasting one and my expectations were certainly met. My fiance thought they were overpriced until when i asked if the Hibachi dinners came with rice or noodles and the server replied "Both"!

I order the Filet Mignon and chicken Hibachi dinner. The cut of steak was juicy and cooked to order in front of my eyes. Everything was tasty! My fiance wanted to get his sushi on and enjoyed stuffing his face since they were having a 30% of Sushi sale. The hibachi dinners were also 30% off.

This was a Friday night dinner well spent. the ambiance was relaxing and friendly. My only complaint would be that my Blue Hawaiian tasted like coconut punch. It was very fruity but I did not taste any alcohol. Next time I will order one noting I would like to taste my alcohol.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant for family friends and all the above.

Review is for sushi only....hubs and I stopped in while waiting for a pizza for our kids at Luna Bella...the sushi was fresh, delicious and well prepared. I'm not usually a fan of cooked rolls but the bartender's recommendation of the special eel roll was AMAZING. So amazing I paid to have them deliver it weeks later (yes they deliver) one night when I couldn't get it off my mind.

I really recommend this place. I gave them explicit instructions to deliver dinner to my boyfriend at his office. The person on the phone was very friendly. My boyfriend was very happy with the delivery. I got him the Hibachi Filet Mignon. He said that the food was delicious and that the delivery guy was very kind and friendly :)

Reviews on Yelp looked good so my fiance and I decided to try it out. When you first walk in the decoration looks nice, however I would say it's having a bit of identity crisis. It's Japanese Steak House, however they have mix of both Chinese and Japanese decorations and was playing Chinese music. We tried the calamari as the appetizer. It was OK, nothing special. Then we ordered 3 different rolls, Fantastic Roll, Good Time Roll and Dynamite Maki. They were all pretty good. The food display was pretty nice too. I would probably go back to try out their other rolls and also try out their hibachi food.

I actually stumbled upon this place while looking for a sushi lunch special near my work, not realizing I'd been to this same exact restaurant over a year ago. From both encounters, I can tell you I was WELL impressed!

The sushi is absolutely delicious, both dine in and take out. It's hard to find a decent sushi lunch special in Columbia, and I have absolutely no complaints for my maki roll combo. I ordered the spicy salmon, spicy tuna and avocado rolls. Usually, places tend to overwhelm you with a huge chunk of rice and a weeee bit of sushi/vegetable filling. NOT AT KOTO!!! It was so fresh, delicious, quick and cheap! $11 for three rolls and miso soup.

When arriving to pick it up, I realized this was a restaurant previously I'd previously dined in. In the photo of the fantastic roll, that's me in the back holding chopsticks. This is a must visit restaurant. After getting back to work, I realized Koto had a groupon deal (and I of course IMMEDIATELY purchased it).

I came here because of groupon but I would definitely come back. The chefs are funny and social. The tricks are bit more different than Sakura. They offer this noodle with their hibachi meal and ITS SO GOOD. We ordered the hibachi meal steak and chicken and I had steak and salmon. Everything was cooked to perfection. The staff is very courteous and friendly. My boyfriend ordered an alcoholic drink and after they made his drink they came back and topped him off for free just because they had extra left over. Not to mention the restaurant is nicely decorated. I love this place, it's a half am hour drive from my house but id only go here for hibachi from now on.

Had a craving for sushi so I came here since they were having 30% off special rolls! The sushi was good! My bf & I had Spicy Girl Roll, Eel Special, Spicy Sandwich, Spicy Tuna and Chicken Tempura Roll. Everything was fresh and of course appealing, although I've definitely had better spicy tuna rolls at most other places. For some reason I didn't expect the Spicy Sandwich to be an actual sandwich with rice as the "buns" that kept the ingredients together. Minus that sandwich I recommend all the other rolls!
Word of caution : I think some of the rolls that don't have an (*) (which they used to mark raw) were indeed raw so ask in advance if you don't eat raw sushi!

I got the Shrimp Teriyaki Bento Box Lunch Special which came with California roll, shumai, miso soup and a salad. I didn't like the orange Asian dressing on the salad. The shumai weren't very good but they give you 6! and 6 pieces of California roll. The 6 pieces of shrimp was pretty good, I think all of that for $8.99 is a pretty good price. I think they really like the number 6! My bf had the chicken and shrimp hibachi combo and said it was like any other hibachi place. The chef is very nice and funny!

The servers are extremely nice and attentive. Our main waitress, Vivi was very friendly and helpful! The restaurant is big and clean, very pretty and has a fountain!

Brought the family to Koto Sake last night for my son's 16th birthday. Great food, great show at the hibachi table and it was a great deal, with 30% off every dinner and special sushi rolls! This will be my go-to Japanese Steakhouse!

By far the best Japanese restaurant around. And we've been to all of them. The service was impeccable -- completely attentive but not obtrusive. All 6 of us had sushi AND hibachi. Each one of us agreed -- the tastiest hibachi we have ever had. Lots of hibachi tastes greasy -- masking the flavors of the ingredients and leaving you feeling weighted-down. Not here. So fresh. And the "secret sauce" is heavenly. Sushi rolls were quick to the table and also very fresh and light. This will now become our "go to" place for Japanese.

Hibachi food was really tasty but miso soup incredibly bland. Salad OK, have had better. Service was good, we were seated quickly. Went with kids and the chef was really good with them.

Koto Sake was a great hibachi experience! Like most hibachi places, Koto places you with a large group... and as most everyone prays no one else sits down :) No worries here, we had a 6 at the table and we made it fun!

As we ordered the waitress took our drinks and our orders and we waited in anticipation for the chef to arrive... moments later he pushed his full to the brim cart to our table. He reviewed the orders, and we had two vegetarians in the group which made the exp. different but this is where Koto stood out.

As the chef cooked our meals and provided entertainment, we on several occasions asked for accommodations. These accommodations were 1. different utensils for meat and non-meat items which he did, 2. separate cooking space for meat and non-meat which he did, and 3. the non-meat items be cooked first so the grill would not have to be cleaned which he did... so pluses for all three accommodations. He agreed anything we asked for and more. The waitress also was happy to bring out hot sauce and other spicy condiments that were asked for as well. So my hat goes off to the chef and waitress.

The only reason I do not give it 5 stars is the chicken was ok, not the greatest and it was slightly tough to eat, but everything else was cooked nicely and with a lot of flavor.

I would recommend Koto to anyone looking for a good hibachi exp where the chef and waitstaff are attentive and accommodating! Can't go wrong!!

We went here after visiting my friend at the Ho. Co. GH down the street and was starving. Fortunately, there was no wait and the food came pretty fast. We ordered the sushi dinner for 2 and it was excellent! This sushi joint is owned by Chinese people who are very into aesthetics- I was surprised by how many fresh flowers were on our dish. The miso soup is probably the best I've ever had anywhere. The fish was very fresh- standouts were salmon and white tuna.

We love coming to this place. The sushi is amazing, the hibachi is great. The service is very good too and the food comes fast and fresh. The caterpillar roll is the best!

I'd probably give Koto Sake 3.5 stars if I could - I like Katana better but Koto got the job done. FYI - I ordered delivery so I can't comment on the restaurant atmosphere.

First, the delivery guy was super nice and the food arrived exactly when promised. I was quoted a time from 7:20-7:30pm and it arrived exactly at 7:25pm.

I ordered an American Dream roll (shrimp, cucumber, spicy crab) and a Tiffany (tuna crunch, white tuna, jalapeo, tobiko) - "special" rolls run in the $11-14 range but are on the smaller side. That said, they"re filled with fish & not just rice. Both tasted reasonably good, the fish was fresh and the presentation on the Tiffany in particular was pretty - see photo. I appreciated that the spicy crab actually WAS spicy though the jalepenos on the Tiffany didn't add much heat or flavor.

I've had better sushi but I've had a lot worse too - rounding up to 4 stars because they deliver which saved me from the horrors of eating at the only restaurant in walking distance of my hotel....Bob Evans. Thanks Koto Sake!

I ordered the Crab Rangoon and the Chicken Hibachi for delivery and the food was hot, fresh and plentiful. I had plenty of leftovers for 3 dinners! I am so glad this newcomer to Howard County found a go to hibachi place and it delivers!

Celebrated a birthday here and it was very entertaining! Especially when the chef gave everyone a chance to try to catch a small piece of broccoli in their mouth...something you definitely don't do very often in a restaurant. Haha! Perfect for a party of 8-10 to comfortably sit around your private chef and get a great show. Food was yummy, not overly seasoned so you can put as much or as little of the sauces they offer (one creamy and one soy-ginger-y). I liked that there was plenty of food and it was a kid friendly atmosphere. They were very courteous and diligent in making sure we had everything we needed. If you haven't heard/seen them sing happy birthday with the hat and drums, it is hilarious! 4 stars because the place is a bit run down and probably not the cleanest- could use a makeover. A huge painting of flowers on the wall was crooked and if you have OCD at all you will want to straighten it the whole time you are there.

I was disappointed in my order, but it was not the restaurants fault, but mine. I mistakenly ordered the veggie hibachi thinking I was ordering chicken. I love tofu, but this was bland and too soft. The veggies, rice and yum yum sauce was tasty. The noodless needed a bit more seasoning. Overall, I can't wait to order again and get what I actually wanted. Oh and the portion size was perfect! I have enough for lunch tomorrow.

I worked right next to this place for years and never thought to go in there to eat. I really regret that decision because the food is so delicious. I ordered from them two days in a row because I literally could not get enough. The hibachi and sushi are my favorites to order..and I am not even a large sushi fan but I'm addicted to theirs. All around really great and they bring your order promptly so there isn't a long wait time. STRONGLY recommend.

Went here for lunch as I was craving yum yum sauce and hibachi, and it was wonderful. The serving size was huge, felt like a dinner portion. The sushi was excellent as well. Staff very friendly, not a fancy place but inexpensive and great food.

This is our favorite local Japanese place. We're always guaranteed good food with good service. We usually sit for dinner and sushi, but their habatchi is good as well. Our personal favorites is the range of bakko boxes available; food for days!

The sashimi and steak were great. The sushi was OK but I think I will stick with the sashimi. We will see. Next time I will order different stuff and update my review. It is a place I'd recommend if you are in the Columbia area.

I ordered delivery from here and it was good. There was far more good than I expected (chicken tempura bento box), it was hot and freshly made. My sushi roll was okay but nothing to write home about. Overall the meal was definitely worth the price and I will order again.

My buddy and I went there for lunch after an interview in a facility across the road. I ordered the spicy chicken while he got the bento shrimp teriyaki. The food was great; I would have preferred the bento box over what I got as the former has a lot more variety despite the smaller servings. Get the Asagi to go with your food.

Who can argue with tasty sushi for lunch? NOBODY! Unless the sushi was sub-par. That was definitely not the case here at Koto Sake Japanese Steak House. Honestly, if I had a bottomless stomach I could have sat all day trying every type they had. The weekday lunch specials are hard to beat: $2.99 appetizers and $2.99 sushi rolls = WINNING!

My husband and I went here this past weekend and had a wonderful experience the chefs were entertaining and nice as well as the waitress and stuff. Good was wonderful and delicious. You will need a to go doggy bag as no one ever eats all their food there.!

Came here on a Friday night. They are located in a hidden shopping center almost abadoned so there is not much traffic there meaning not that many people there for a Friday.

The staff was welcoming and friendly. They offered hibachi or sushi, I came for the sushi.
The decor of the place did not leave a lasting impression.

Overall the food came out fast and was good. 3 rolls is enough for 2 people. There sushi menu has a lot of raw items.

Birthday party on Saturday was a hit. The food was fresh and flavored just right. The sushi was super fresh. The filet was not cooked as directed and the portion seemed less that described. It was still a great dinner. We will be back.

Nice size rolls, they do not load them up with rice which is nice. They actually give you a large amount of fish and just one layer of rice. Our server always suggests something new to try based on what we have ordered which is cool, and will just give a small portion instead of the entire order size.

Have never tried the hibachi but it seems to always be packed with people when we have been there in the evenings.

Very fun experience! All the food is fresh, and tastes great. The chef was funny and entertaining, they even sung happy birthday for my son. Will definitely come back again

I tried this place because of a Groupon I purchased. I have to say this was the 2nd out of 3 places I have tried via Groupon that is a Hibachi Grill Resturaunt but nothing compares to Sakuras (Glen Burnie) ...so if you have been to Sakuras and are trying to save a few bucks via Groupon let me tell you now these other places just aren't the same

The show was great the kids loved the Japanese soda in strawberry flavor (Which is not offered at Sakuras) Overall the food was pretty good the steak and shrimp were awesome just the rice didn't taste the same but the soup and salad were pretty good so overall I would go here again but given a choice I would most def pick Sakuras over this place any day.

Out of the 3 places I have tried this was the closest to Sakuras that's why it got 4 stars. It was clean overall nice family left happy. If the rice would have tasted like Sakuras you would have gotten 5 but no one compares sorry so if you haven't been there yet do yourself a favor and try Sakuras in Glen Burnie you will be hooked.

Please note this review is strictly on the grill side I do not eat sushi sorry.

Chicken hibachi was delicious. Service was good, they are attentive and pleasant. They even gave me club soda when I got soy sauce on my shirt.

Dynamite maki roll, this one was really really good !! Definitely would order again.

The fire dragon roll was good. Where as the fantastic roll had too much different flavors going on. Good but won't ever order again. All three had beautiful presentations.

Great Hibachi! The cook was really funny and the food was soooo very tasty. I got the superman sushi roll and it was AWESOME. I will certainly be back. Have a descent number of adult beverages... Actually kind of light on the non alcoholic beverages. Price was descent for hibachi. If you are going to get hibachi you will pay no matter what. $22 average for a mixed meat plate.

I really love Koto Sake. The food pricing is good for what you are getting. The spicy tuna roll is my favorite. The service has always been good. For the sushi, the presentation is wonderful. Hibachi is also fun and you get so much food! and it has always been great. They have sake and mixed drinks. I like the sake martini that has cucumbers in it. I am moving away from MD and I will miss it. I will have to find a reasonably priced sushi place in my new town. I have ordered carry out from here. Once they have the number in their system, when you call they will address you by your name and are very nice.

My boyfriend was craving hibachi tonight and we really didn't know where to go. But then this place popped up and we decided to give it a go. And I must say, we were pretty damn impressed! The food was actually really good and everything came out very fast and the show was amusing as well. The servers were always around refilling our glasses and seeing if we needed anything. The fried rice was my favorite!! The lomein wasn't the best but the steak and shrimp were also very good. We got one bottle of sake which tasted like a mix of makkali and soju! We really enjoyed it. We definitely would have given this place five stars if we left full!! We left satisfied but it was not enough for us. For $65, I wish we were full. Other than that, great place to eat.

We celebrated another event here and caught a well seasoned chef whose hibachi game was strong. Brought a family in for their first time, their kids had a blast. Good times, good food, again.

Food is great, the atmosphere not so much. Try the chicken or shrimp tempura, it's so good. The waitress was friendly and answered our questions on food and coupons etc. Would definitely come back, great place for families too.

The cooks here at Koto Sake Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi are very entertaining, the food is delicious, and I really enjoyed the experience. Everything is cooked in front of you and the chefs put on a real performance. To work as a cook in this kind of restaurant you have to have a great personality as well as awesome skill and dexterity. I will highly recommended you to try hibachi once if you haven't experienced it yet.

Koto Sake has great sushi for your typical quick sushi lunch place. The service can be a bit slow sometimes, but the fish is always above average quality (it's no high-end sushi restaurant). Overall a nice place to go to without spending too much.

I just found this place about a month or two ago and let me tell you that finding this place is the best thing that's probably happened to me this year. Each time my dad and I go there, the people remember us each time and sit us at our usual table. They take orders quickly, but not to the point where it rushes you. I tend to start off with salmon sashimi, which you order by piece (it's $2.50 a piece). While that is a tad pricy, you get your money's worth. You get two huge pieces of salmon that taste absolutely amazing and fresh!

As for the hibachi, I love the scallops and shrimp so I usually get that. I try to go there at lunch seeing how the prices are a lot cheaper. I usually don't want the vegetables so I get an extra order of fried rice with my meal. All in all this place is amazing, not only with their food but with their service. I will keep coming back here as long as the food keeps staying this good, which will be for a long time!

The decor is above par for a japanese steak house, nice wooden lanterns and a wonderful fountain in the lobby. The hibachi dining room is set up wonderfully, with two grills per unit. The counters are extra wide from the grill which makes for more comfortable seating.

The food was wonderful. All the normal fare is available at the hibachi and the combinations are well priced. Excellent flavors abound throughout the meal. From the fried rice to the noodles, the sides are wonderful all by themselves. The cuts of meat are well chosen and seasoned to perfection.

The staff is very attentive without being intrusive. Our chef was skillful, playful, and engaging. All in all a wonderful experience. I would definitely repeat the experience.

Pretty decent sushi. Very good service. Tempura is a bit oily but good flavor. Kind of bland other places. I really enjoyed the white tuna sushi. Was the first time I've tried it and it was firm and flavorful.

First time to order because they deliver. Got a love boat and special roll! All was fabulous and got a lot for the price!! Delivery was early and professional! Yumola! I will go again

This is a nice place. The staff really work hard to take care of you and are very attentive. The food was fine. We've done both hibachi and sushi and always a nice time.

This place was nice and quiet. Food was plentiful and superb! I enjoyed everything from my Blue Hawaiian drink from the soup and salad. The meal was extraordinary. I found this place through yelp and I'm so glad I did. We will definitely be returning. Oh and I had the salmon and steak hibachi. Yummmmmmyyyyyy:-)

The sushi here is amazing! The salmon, the tuna, all of it was delicious! The sushi and sashimi love boat is a delicious looking, wonderful boat of awesomeness! I really can't explain how much I loved the taste and texture of Koto's sushi, so you'll just have to look at the picture. The boat comes with a california roll and dragon roll, which were tasty. I'll have to come back some day and try others, but if the fish is any indicator, this place is 5 star fish worthy!

We also got some hot sake. I admit it was my first time drinking sake, and I was not let down! My friend compared it to watered down nail polish, wonder how she knows what that tastes like. But I loved it. To top this delicious meal off, we finished with mango and red bean mochi ice cream. Standard but also delicious and generous for the price.

This is a very nice neighborhood hibachi place. the chef was a lot of fun to watch cook and I'm looking forward to bringing my kids there in the future. I think they would really get a kick out of it. the food itself is average but it's what you would expect from a Japanese steakhouse. there is shrimp, beef and chicken to select from; but you really go there for the hibachi chef and the show that he puts on. I am looking forward to going back again soon!

This place is great! I enjoyed the hibachi steak and chicken with fried rice and veggies. Yum. Although I cannot understand an additional charge for a second Shirley temple [Shirley Temple $2.25 or soda $2.25 (free refills), obviously no charge for grenadine], it will in no way keep me from going back to this tasty eatery!

I've been here many times and will continue to go back. This place has consistently great prices, great food, and great service (Tony is hilarious). Everything I've ever ordered here has been delicious, from the fried rice to the sushi. My favorite is their filet and chicken hibachi meal.

Had our work holiday luncheon here. Everyone had a fab time, which isn't an easy thing to accomplish at a work party. Nikki was first class in customer service. She was extremely accommodating and a pleasure to work with. The hibachi chefs were amazing and kept the co-workers dazzled, if not slightly tipsy. That's all I'll say on that topic. You'll just have to venture there and experience it yourself. Though my shrimp was slightly over cooked, I loved the accompanying sauces and the crisp, tender stir fried veggies. There's no cost for the room and a discount was offered as well. The room we were given was ample and allowed for several games and gift exchanges, we planned for in advance.

NOTE: Although I live like 12 seconds from this place, this order was placed via GrubHub because I'm lazy & gas is expensive (don't judge me and I won't judge you).

I wanted sushi so I ordered the Naruto roll, Dragon Roll & 2 pieces of Uni. I made a special request for each roll to add cream cheese via the app. This was a $1 extra charge per roll ($2 total) The order arrived quickly. Unfortunately, because of how the request is poorly documented on the receipt (blame the GrubHub receipt generator), the roll modification was not identified by the restaurant/ sushi chef.

I had already started eating & escalated my concern to the restaurant (since I paid cash). The first person I spoke to was defensive and stated "we don't do that here" although, the menu via the app gives you the option to add extras to the roll for a charge. I then called GrubHub who was unable to do a refund since I paid in cash. GrubHub then called the restaurant. I am then called by the restaurant and spoke to a woman who gave me her name (with spelling), was apologetic and offered me a virtual credit of $2 credit the next time I order. GrubHub then called to follow up and offered me a credit on their side.

Lesson: anytime you make a modification and even when it calculates your extra addition, still make a comment because the receipt generator isn't clear when it documents requests.

So how was the food: Delicious and fresh!!! The Uni was orange and I expected it to be yellow... But I googled and confirmed that's because they use the good stuff and the color was appropriate. Will I order again, fo sho!!

Had dinner. 1st time there. Service was good. Had sushi & hibachi. Food was very good. No issue, would return.

Went here for the first time last year and I was blown away. They always have some type of running specials with percentages off your check. The box meals on their menu are a steal for what you get. Everything here is delicious and the sushi is great. Have eaten here for the box and for hibachi and it has all been very good.

I was hesitant about trying Koto because we'd gotten a Groupon for it & our last few Groupon experiences ended up being pretty awful. Now I feel silly for doubting it, because this place was awesome.

I got the beef teriyaki bento and it was easily the best bento I've had in a year, if not ever. Everything was hot and fresh, the beef was tender, and I was ecstatic to see that the sides included shumai and crab rangoon, which were both great. Service was polite, quick, and friendly, and the mixed drink I got (the sweet art) was tasty. The place is a bit pricey without a groupon, but it's definitely worth the price!

A friend and I decided to give this place a try one day last week for lunch, and I'm so glad we did. The customer service we received was amazing. The waitress picked up on my friend's dietary needs (vegetarian) and was making sure everything was meat free. Even the hibachi chef waited till after he served her food to start cooking my salmon. She really appreciated that because at most hibachi grills they will just cook everything together at the same time getting meat juices on her food lol. They also have an awesome sushi lunch special!!! Great food, amazing service, I will most certainly return!

Outstanding lunch all you can eat sushi rolls. Very high quality. The best I've ever had in an all you cab eat.

I have lived in the Columbia area for about two years now. I tried Koto Sake one day because they have a great lunch special deal (3 rolls w/ soup $11-12). Very pleased, I have also eaten in lunch, taken out dinner, and eaten in dinner. This is my go to sushi place with my fianc and I am always very pleased with the service and the food. The sushi is ALWAYS fresh, and the sashimi portions are generous (always giving good big pieces). They are always willing to make modifications to rolls (i.e. no cucumber, but add avocado) for no additional charge. I don't understand the bad reviews about ingredients, this is one of the only sushi places that I feel is consistent in quality and freshness.

I was happy to find this restaurant after we moved to Columbia. I like their main dishes, however their sushi and sushi rolls are just mediocre. That is only reason I'm giving them 4 stars. We normally only have a delivery service from this restaurant, and they have been really prompt, always come on time, they give plenty of soy sauce to go with sushi. They always sound polite on the phone. I wish that sushi had a little more fish, meaning thicker cuts; also I wish they had a wider variety of sushi rolls. Other wise I will recommend this place, I will be ordering more deliveries.

Had the hibachi dinner.. SO GOOD! The staff was attentive with drink orders and with the timing of appetizers and the entrees. The chef was so much fun! Kept everyone at the table entertained! They honored a coupon we had with no problem! Had plenty of food for the price and even took home left overs! Nom Nom!!

I'm not from Columbia but I work at a sushi restaurant back home and the takeout that was DELIVERED was pretty fantastic. All of the fish and rolls tasted fresh and everything was delivered within a reasonable time frame. Would recommend this place to sushi novices and gurus alike!

This place is awesome. My boyfriend and I try and go once a month, and absolutely love it. The food is great, and the staff is super nice! The only problem we've ever had is the server disappearing and not getting refills on drinks for a while, but besides that I give this place and A++.

The best hibachi grill around! They give you fried rice AND lo mein. They also have vegetarian hibachi that comes with veggies and tofu.

Food was amazing. So was my drink. Hibachi was entertaining lol. Lunch was a reasonable price. Will be back soon! (Got the combo hibachi)

Easily the best food I have had in the 3+ months we have lived here. The staff was friendly, entertaining, and made us feel very special. Prices are higher than most regular restaurants, but you are paying for large portions and entertainment as well. Well worth it, definitely recommend! Can't wait to go back!

I went here for my birthday. They were very accommodating of our large group on short notice. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was DELICIOUS. Everyone loved what they ordered. Some at the table had hibachi and some had sushi. It was all very tasty. The best sushi I've had in Columbia. They also sang for my birthday! It was a great overall experience. I would absolutely go back and will recommend to everyone :)

Great food.

Phenomenal! The food was delicious and the service was great. We took our kids, ages 3 and 6, and they were enthralled by the hibachi. Also, the filet mignon was one of the best I've had in a while. It was a wonderful family experience.
